Narconon Has the Highest Success Rate of Any Rehab in The Country

 The definition of Narconon is narcotics-non.

            Narconon is a non-traditional, individualized program that boasts a seventy six percent success rate. Narconon’s record of success is one of the highest of all rehabs that are available to the public at present.

            The reason that Narconon has such a high success rate is because of the way that addiction is approached through the program. Narconon has a very original approach to addiction that is unlike any other program. In most twelve step programs and other modules that are similar, addiction is approached as a disease. At Narconon, addiction is approached as a disability. The meaning behind this is as follows. A disease is often classified as any deviation from or interruption of the normal structure of function of any body part, organ, or system that is manifested by a characteristic set of symptoms and signs and whose etiology, pathology, and prognosis may be known or unknown. In the case of addiction, disease is referring to an aberration in the system of self control and the mind.  Narconon refers to addiction as a disability as a lack of ability to confront and deal with life.

Narconon Goals 

           It is Narconon’s goal to help a person improve their abilities and by doing this, it found that their addiction gets handled as well. At twelve steps, most of the meetings and groups focus on the problems that the person is dealing with due to their addiction. Narconon, in turn, focuses on the solutions to handle the person’s problems alleviating the need for drugs. This is the basis of the program as visualized by the founder, William Benitez. He said that a person does drugs because they do not feel well about something that is going on in their life. He said if you give the power to the person to be able to handle whatever it is that is going on in their life, they no longer have the need to get high because they feel well and comfortable about themselves and what is going on.

            In light of this, Narconon has a series of self-cognitive courses, each one dealing with a different tool that is needed to be a productive member of society. There are eight books in total that make up the Narconon Program.

Narconon Program Described

      Book One is a very light communication course. It helps the person learn to get into communication with themselves and the world around them. This book focuses on improving the person’s confront of life. It is considered to be therapeutic as well and is also used in helping the person go through withdrawal in a more comfortable manner.                                 

             Book Two is called the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program. It addresses the physical aspect of addiction by cleansing the body of drug residues that have been stored in fatty tissues of the body over the years. It uses a specific regimen of vitamins, minerals, aerobic exercise, and sweating in a sauna that is put into proper combinations that aid the body in flushing out these unwanted toxins in a relatively short amount of time. It is been found that once a participant of the Narconon completes this portion of the program they no longer have the effects of physical cravings, and their outlook on life is much clearer and more logical.

           Book Three of the Narconon program teaches the person the proper way to study and learn new material. The rest of the program consists of much theory and practical exercises and it is found that if the person knows the proper way to study, they are much more able to get all the benefits of the rest of the program.

            Book Four is broken up into two parts; part 4-A and part 4-B.

           Book 4-A is similar to Book One, as it is a communication course as well and uses the same principles. The exercise done 4-A are done at more advanced level and increase the persons communication skills to a very high degree. It teaches them how most conflicts and problems can be solved with good communication and how to really communicate with people and be communicated with. It teaches them how to handle negative communication in a positive way

            Book 4B helps the person learn to be more observant of their environment and circumstances. It teaches in more depth, the ability to discover problems and resolve them using communication. It also helps the person to be able to be aware of what problems are going on now and ones that have happened in the past. Many drug addicts are stuck in the past and sometimes feel a problem is in the present when really it is over and done with.

            Book Five concentrates on teaching the person the life skill of being able to recognize social and anti-social personalities. It teaches them what kind of people are going to benefit their sobriety and which ones intend to harm them and will jeopardize their sobriety. It teaches the person tools in which to eliminate the bad influences from their lives in a positive and none threatening manner, and it also teaches the person the tools needed to deal with anti-social persons in the future if circumstances ever call for it.

            Book Six focuses on the person’s personal value and integrity. It teaches them why honest, good people really do prosper more and have better lives than people who do not live honest lives. It also helps them to take full responsibility for the misdeeds that they have committed in their past, alleviating guilt, helping the person learn from their mistakes, and moving on into the future in a positive manner.

            Book Seven helps the addict look at all areas in their lives that need to be repaired from their past addiction. It gives the person the tools to formulate an exact plan of action to do this. It helps the person start on these goals and gives them the tools needed to complete them.

            Book Eight gives the person a list of moral guidelines to live by and also shows the person applicable ways that each guideline, if adhered to, will improve their life.

Narconon Resources

            Narconon Resources are not limited to the addict either. Family and friends are invited to participate in the family and friends portion of the program that is helpful to the family as well as the addict. Narconon books and videos teach the family the best way to be supportive of their loved one who is dealing addiction to drugs and or alcohol. When family and friends participate it helps their loved ones undeniably, and also gives them the tools to deal with any negative feelings they may be harboring in a positive way.

            Narconon focuses on teaching an addict how to be responsible for themselves and their own lives. This helps the addict and everyone around them. It helps the person turn themselves into a person who is a benefit to be around as opposed to a liability.
