Because of her own instability, V would leave the father of her child, only to return again in a few days. This went on for the first six months of V’s child’s life. Then the father of her child got arrested. He was in jail for six months. When it first happened V missed him, but after two weeks of being free from the mental abuse V felt very happy. She got a job in sales at a local company and due to her bubbly personality she did quite well. She supported herself and her son and they lived in a small but nice apartment.

Life was better for a while and V even went on a few dates and met someone that she liked.

Relapse

Then her ex got out of jail. He found her quickly and took her and her child to a hotel a couple towns away. She and he immediately fell back into the same pattern of abuser and abused. She missed her life and the new friends that she had made. Then she got sick with mono. She went to the doctor and he prescribed her cough medicine with hydrocodone in it. She started taking it and noticed it made living with her situation easier. It made her not think about her new friends that she missed as much. It made dealing with the guy that was holding her hostage a little better. He noticed that she was nicer on the drugs as well. When she ran out of her cough medicine he got her more. He started using again also. For two months she lived in the hotel with him and her son. She said she would not get high out of her mind, just high enough to not feel her mental anguish. She said she would stay in the hotel room for days and get high on liquid hydrocodone and take care of her son. She noticed after a while, that it was taking more and more of the drug to get her high. The father of her child was more than happy to provide her with as much as she needed however and he kept her supplied all the time. After a while it got hard to find the hydrocodone. She needed it now to get through her day. Finally one day her child’s father told her she would probably have to go to the doctor to get more. He told her to pretend she had a toothache and go to the ER. She had a cavity in her tooth, but it didn’t hurt her. However when she went to the ER she sure acted like it did. From then on she would go to various hospitals and doctors complaining of different ailments to get more pain medicine.

After a while her child’s father got arrested again. Again, V built her life back again and was clean for the next eight months that her boyfriend was in jail.

Continuous Cravings Lead to Drug Use

She noticed however that this time when she got clean it was a lot harder to stay clean. She said she thought of the drugs constantly. They were always in the back of her head. Also this time when she got off of the drugs her withdrawal was a lot more difficult. She was clean for many months just because as a mother she did not want to be a drug addict. She said her body would not cooperate with her mind however. She said she often felt nauseous and weak. She would get depressed easily and lost hope for her life. She figured opiates had ruined her mind and her body and that she was never going to feel normal again.

She had quite using cocaine before but this was harder. She said the opiates where a totally different story. Her body ached, and sometimes she felt so weak that she had to lay down right away.

Then she got word that her ex was getting out of jail. She said she immediately relapsed. She said she was struggling with her addiction so much anyway that that just sent her over the edge. He found her again right away. He stayed in her apartment for a few days and then she freaked out. She said she just could not deal with living with him again.

Narconon Drug Treatment

She called her mom and asked to stay with her for a few days. She took her child to her mom’s house and when she got there she confessed everything. Her mom immediately went to search for a program for her. She found Narconon. Her mother felt that Narconon would be the answer for her daughter since Narconon dealt with the physical side of addiction and this was mainly her daughters problem. One of V’s friends took care of her child while she went to the center.

She went to Narconon for three months. She dealt with the physical side of addiction by sweating out the drugs that had accumulated in her body. Then she dealt with mental and emotional aspects of addiction after her physical cravings were gone. She said “Before I went to Narconon I had no hope of ever feeling life a normal person again. I thought that I had ruined my life. The only time I felt well and strong and normal was when I was on pain killers. I was clean for seven months because I didn’t want to be a druggie mom. Everyday of my sobriety before Narconon was pure hell.
