Narconon Helps a Business Man Addicted to Alcohol | Part 2

Narconon Helps a Business Man Recovery from Alcohol Addiction

Chapter 2

When Z went to the doctor, he had hopes that he would get prescribed a medication that would act in a similar manner to meth. His doctor fulfilled these wishes in the way of Adderall. Adderall is a stimulant that doctors prescribe for those people diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. Attention Deficit Disorder is diagnosed to people who are sometimes hyper, have trouble with organization, have trouble concentrating, and completing tasks. It seems that any person who suffers from addiction could be diagnosed with this “disease”.

Prescription Drug Addiction

In Z’s case, his doctor prescribed him a very large dosage of Adderall. If taken as prescribed, he actually would have been taking five times the amount of Adderall that most people take. Z said that Adderall was not as strong as meth, but if taken enough that it would do what he wanted it to do. It amped him up enough to not want to use meth as much. He was still drinking large amounts of alcohol at the time.

Drinking Worsens

He said that this was around the time when he knew things were starting to get bad. He said that before, he had a problem with alcohol, and he definitely drank too much, but physically it wasn’t a problem for him. He said that eventually it got to the point where he started waking up with the shakes. He said he would go to bed at eleven drunk every night and then around two or three o’clock in the morning he would wake up and have to drink himself back to sleep. He would then go to work in the morning until five and then as soon as he would get off of work he would have to have a drink again to ward of physical withdrawals.

Divorce

His wife soon began to be unable to tolerate his drinking and they would have many fights about the issue. She really wanted him to stop drinking, and actually he wanted to stop drinking also, but he just felt that he couldn’t. He felt physically like crap when he wasn’t drinking and that it was not possible to have a good life without drinking. He tried rehab a few times, tried to stop on his own, and he said that physically he would just continue to feel like such crap from not drinking, even after being sober for a while, that he really felt he could not stop. He did not want to lose his wife, or break up his family because of alcohol, but he did. His wife eventually divorced from his alcoholism.

After his wife left him, Z tried a few more rehabs but they just did not seem to work for him. He would get sober for a while, but eventually he would relapse again. After his divorce, his son lived with him for a while, but they had trouble getting along with one another. Z would give his son advice, and his son would have a terrible time listening to him because he felt anything his father said had no merit as he was a drunk.

Time to Quit

Z got to the point where he really no longer wanted to drink. He talked to his family doctor about it and the doctor prescribed him xanax. He said it could help with his anxiety and alleviate some of the jittery symptoms the Adderall was causing. This little prescription was going to help and save his life, but probably not in the way that the doctor expected.

One night, after an especially trying day, Z decided to try taking the xanax the doctor had prescribed him. He said that he remembers thinking to himself “Oh screw it!” while standing in his apartment kitchen. He said he remembers opening up his bottle of Xanax and taking a few of the pills in his hand, and then knocking them back with a Black Russian. He said the next thing he remembered was waking up in a hospital four days later. He could not remember anything that had happened, but he did have a very severe bruise on his entire torso. He later came to find out that he had been found, knocked out, in the lawn of the country club that was by his house. His car was still parked at his home, so he had obviously not driven to that location. The only thought that he could come up with on the matter was that, perhaps, he had been a victim of some type of hit and run accident. He really could not figure out what had really happened though.

Narconon Recovery

Z says it was at this point he knew he had to get control of his life. He knew drinking was not an option anymore if he wanted to be able to see his next birthday. He then went about researching the best treatment program he could find. He knew that none of the other programs he had tried had worked and he needed something different. Somehow he remembered the name Narconon. He could not remember where he had heard that name before but he knew that somehow that that was going to be the place that was going to help him.

He decided to contact Narconon Drug Rehabilitation and within a few days had caught a flight and was taken to the center. This was five years ago. Z has been doing well and has been sober ever since. He said that the part of the program where he really remembers starting to feel better was in the New Life Detoxification portion. He said that this was where he really started to feel healthy again. He said that he felt so good physically that it totally put drinking out of his mind. He said he used to get drunk to try to feel that good.

Z has re-established his relationships with his kids, and is now able to be friends with his ex-wife. He has started a few of his own businesses where he is doing quite well. He has really gotten his life back together through the help of Narconon and a lot of hard work. We congratulate him and say good job!!!
